Chief B. A. Olaogun was called to the English Bar in 1967 at The Honourable Society of The Inner Temple and subsequently to the Nigerian Bar in 1968. He has been in active practice of Corporate Commercial Law since then. Shortly after enrolment, he commenced legal practice first in Partnership with Mr. Goodie M. Ibru where he remained as a Founding and Managing Partner for twelve years and subsequently he founded Badru Olaogun & Co. where he has practiced law till date.
Chief Olaogun has served on numerous committees amongst which are: Committee member of the Plenary Sessions of the Companies an Allied Matters Decree (now Companies and Allied Matters Act); Committee member of the Professional Fees (in coveyancing matters) Decree (now Act) and for several years served in various committees of The Nigerian Bar Association to mention a few, He was elected the Chairman of The Nigerian Bar Association Lagos Branch in 1987.
He has been involved in the two sections of the Indigenization exercises and was personally involved in the incorporations of two leading Banks in Nigeria as well as served as a director of one of the banks for over two decades before the Central Bank regulations on tenure of board members for banks. He is chairman and member of the boards of some reputable organizations.
His practice areas include Corporate Commercial Law, Maritime Law, Oil & Gas/ Energy Law, Labour & Employment, ADR and Arbitration. He is an ardent litigator who in his career litigated on landmark cases in Nigeria; representing corporate, individual and government.
He is a Life Bencher and a past President of the Rotary Club (Lagos Central). He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Secretaries and Administrators and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
