Oluwakemi Olaogun was called into the Nigerian bar in May 2002 and started practice as a Litigator and Solicitor in the law firm of Babalakin & Co. She commenced her career in the areas of Corporate Commercial Law. She worked on secondment to the first Nigerian company to be granted a concession by the Federal Government under a Public Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement to deliver a Build Operate and Transfer (BOT) as the head of legal services. Whilst there, she established and headed the company’s legal department which she oversaw before she returned to the firm.

She also worked on secondment to Free Zone Company as the Lead, Legal and Free Zone Services. A science and technology park with four focal areas of Information Communication Technology (ICT), Biotechnology, Mineral Technology and Energy. In her capacity as the Lead, Legal person, she turned the department around by amongst other things, building values and ethical standards within the department.

She has carved a niche for herself as a negotiator of wide-ranged contractual/concession agreements with a knack for international commercial trade and taxation. She constantly advised and laises with both local and foreign investors on the legal aspects of investment in Nigeria and various Government bodies on company matters. She is an active member of the Maritime and International Trade, Telecommunications, Media and technology (TMT), Real Estate and Development, Special Economic Zone Advisory, Corporate Finance and securities, Mergers & Acquisition, Company Secretarial Practices and taxation departments of the firm.

She has also engaged in amongst others; in the creation and execution of real estate and transfer instruments. She also advises Client’s subsidiary and Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) on commercial transactions with respect to Joint Venture Agreement (JVA) with bid partners and ensuring that the JVA complies with applicable Nigerian Laws.

She is the managing partner of the firm. She obtained an LL.B (with honours) from the University of Ibadan and has an LL.M in International Taxation from the University of London. She is a Notary Public of Nigeria, a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and the International Bar Association (IBA).
